Fall 2011 New York Fashion Week: L.A.M.B.
2011 Fall New York Fashion Week: L.A.M.B.
Gwen Stefani's L.A.M.B. shows are always part fashion event and part fan gathering, and last night's was no exception. Hundreds of Gwen devotees packed into Lincoln Center's Theater to see her Fall collection, which was divided into six themes. The action started with billowing smoke and an Apocalypse Now-esque war montage displayed on an enormous screen. The first batch of clothes was clearly military-inspired, with jackets and trousers in olive greens and tans. Next up were ensembles that took clear influence from Rastas, London, the outdoors, mod culture, and glamour. Before sending her models down the runway, Gwen spoke about the varied looks. She said, "Whether it be from me being like a little bit of an English girl, like a little bit of a Rasta girl, a little bit of an Orange County girl, it's like always those same things that come through in the clothes . . . It's just defining yourself through the people that you love growing up." Gwen created her own persona from a variety of sources, and that certainly came through in her latest design efforts.
- Trends: Plaids, draping, layering.
- Colors: Orange! Red! Black!
- Key Looks: A floor-length Navajo-print evening gown with amazing back details.
- Accessories: Aviators, Rasta hats, silk scarves.
- Who Would Wear It: Fans of Gwen, Harajuku Girls, those unafraid of bold colors and prints.
