Fashion Dilemma! Caught Between Two Slashed Tanks

I first saw this Ann-Sofie Back Purple Slashed Tank ($87, originally $173) and thought, how cool. Then I met its fashion-forward sister, the black version! That's when everything got confusing.Here's the situation: The black doesn't come in my size — a UK size 10 is big for me — but I am in lust with it. The purple does come in my size, which means it would fit me perfectly, but I don't love it as deeply. It's definitely still unique, but doesn't have that same impact as the black. See what I mean? I can always get it taken in, but I'm thinking it's already pretty pricey for a tank. Plus, I can't return or exchange it. Help! What would you do?

You should get the black, the sizing is actually somewhat on the small side! A UK size 10 is equivalent to a size small, so if you are not a very small xs I'd say go for the black one if that's the one you love. Or why not both at that price? Best Daniel Sales & MD at Ann-Sofie Back

neither!!! there is something wrong with both of them (in your mind) and they are just plain ugly (in my mind). I go with the general rule if I am in a conundrum about which piece to buy, means I do not feel strongly enough about either item to purchase it. If you are dying to spend some money anyhow, donate it to a good cause or something.

First off that shirt is not worth $87. Second I actually prefer purple. The slashes stand out more with the lighter color tank. But for you I would buy neither. You don't want the purple and the black doesn't fit. Sometimes you just have to let an item you really love go.

I say purple - I often find that things I buy that I'm not 100% in love with I end up liking a lot more, usually because it adds a dimension to my wardrobe I didn't have before because I'm not usually drawn to said color/style (in your case, purple). However I find that I always regret buying things that don't fit right just because I'm in lust with it. Half of the beauty of great clothes is how it looks on YOU, not just how it looks. I think that even if you tailor the black one, it's not going to hang the same way, as the designer intended. There's a chance you could end up with a fit that is even better, but I'm not sure how big that chance is. However, regardless of the fact it is a tank top, the price of it justifies tailoring.

get the black and take it to a tailor and get it altered. that's what i do. don't moderately love something when the one you want is can be easily turned into your size!

Sounds like you're destined to not own either. If it's not the color you want/correct size, you won't end up wearing it a lot, if ever. Trust me, I've made this mistake myself.

I would vote for neither. It looks messy to me, like there is something off on the construction.

get the black coz believeme, i've been through that. if u get the purple, u will always have that desire inside of u, kinda like its just gonna be running through ur mind the whole time, besides, it fits u wonderfully, so no need to be afraid u might not wear it

Would prob get the topshop version instead. Get 2 Hanes tanks or t-shirts and a pair of scissors. It's really not that hard.

Get the black one and have it altered. If you get the purple one no matter how much you like it in the back of your mind you're always going to wish it was black (and a $90 tank is an expensive one to have some regrets about).

Get the black, you like it better, and it might shrink (maybe?) but anyway, you cann always have it altered or wear it baggy on purpose (like a tunic?)

You should get the purple one - fit is always the most important thing when it comes to clothes, and you can easily dye it black :)

I think both of them are quite a mess and would not wear them, they look cheap to me, definitely not like a 173 $ shirt. THe idea might be nice but the execution isn't the best - no wonder you get them for 87$ instead of 173$.
