In 2013, I resolve to dress it up. I have visions of a more put-together me who doesn't shy away from pumps or a skirt, a me who doesn't succumb to her striped t-shirts and distressed denim. No, I'm not looking to ditch my jeans, or even flats altogether, but I am vowing to pull it together — and I'm doing it the Jenna Lyons way. With every J.Crew collection, every Lyons street-style moment, or Fashion Week appearance, I was thinking to myself, "I want to look like that." It's that chic blend of polish countered with cool-girl staples that looks so impossibly easy and totally sophisticated (case in point: the street-styler who nailed it at left). It's the best of both style worlds — not to mention a healthy dose of brights and prints — but it does take a commitment to trying new things. It means ditching my jeans in favor of pencil skirts, button-downs instead of t-shirts, and pointed-toe pumps in place of everyday booties. To that I say: bring it on.
