Flowers for McQueen

After the Preen show this afternoon, I wanted to walk by the Alexander McQueen store in the Meatpacking for a private goodbye. I wasn't the only one . . . RIP.

Every time I see pictures of the flowers at the storefronts, it makes my heart break. No one could look at a McQueen piece and call fashion "silly". He made it meaningful and evocative. I don't know anyone else who comes close to him in the industry today. I hope young designers like Olivier Theyskens or Christopher Kane will step up and help fill the void.
