Freaky or Fabulous? Meaty Modeling

Modeling in a room of meat is odd, but wearing meat is freaky. On Wednesday's episode of America's Next Top Model, the remaining contestants were taken to the Meatpacking District in New York, where they had to not only wear raw meat, but they had to make it look as normal as modeling diamonds. Claire (pictured) and Marvita made the challenge look effortless, but I still think it's more freaky than fabulous. You?

I don't think this was pointless, I think that they were testing to see how far these models would be willing to go to book a shoot. Season after season they have women who leave because they can't do a nude shot, knowing full well that in the fashion industry, sometimes you are going to have to do things that you are opposed to in order to stay in the business. I think the idea itself was interesting, but I agree that it was a waste. That's a lot of meat that can't be eaten now, and has to simply be discarded. I'm not thinking about the animals that killed; I'm thinking about the millions that go hungry when we can be so wasteful.

IN My opinion these pictures were very creative, ive always thought any intresting pictures in a factory or processing plant were great because its rare to get into the plants to get the modeling pictures, even if it was a set, the thought is still a good one,

disgusting and pointless, worse than fur, the peta are going to be all over them. the girls are so desperate to be models they'll do anything, the show is desperate for ideas, they'll do anything.

There is a high fashion reference. I remember seeing an editorial very similar to this shoot with Caroline Trentini a few years ago. In Vogue I think... That being said, ANTM is quite ridiculous. I haven't bothered to check it out in several seasons. You would think that by now any girl serious about modeling wouldn't go on this show. Of course, these girls may be serious about being famous, not modeling.

i was so annoyed by it that i turned the show off! i'm vegan, but i really don't care if others eat meat. that's their choice. however this is both disrespectful of life & wasteful. i thought tyra went "green" last season? if they wanted to gross the models out, they could just have them pose w/ smelly trash or sewage. this isn't the first time this show has crossed the lines of taste. i was appalled by the one where they were dead. when that show came on, i had had a friend die in a violent way & it made me sick. then, the worst one was the circus "freaks". it made me seriously angry b/c it sort of poked fun at real deformities. i mean, you know, elephant man was a real man. he was a good man who went through allot. & in case we forgot, there are conjoined twins born all the time. it's not chic, it's sad, & it's certainly NOT fashion. bella, i think you should forward this post & all of our responses to tyra. she seems like a cool woman. maybe she'd change her mind or get jay to stop w/ the nasty shoots.

It's completely appalling! Not only did animals have to die so Tyra could gross out the models, but it's a waste of food as well!I thought this show was supposed to be conscious and send a positive message.
