Warning: the Lady Dior Spring '09 ad you're seeing has been done by highly trained professionals and should not be recreated! French actress Marion Cotillard appears to be standing at the edge of the Eiffel Tower to fulfill her modeling duties as the face of Christian Dior's Lady Dior handbags. Of course, the always-handy Photoshop has made it possible for this shot to be fantastical. But let's not forget to credit photographer Peter Lindbergh for capturing this beautiful shot of Marion and her handbag. What do you think? Is Lady Dior's latest ad magical or unrealistic?
This shot is GORGEOUS! She's really pretty and the heels are HOT! I LOVE this ad.
She looks absolutely gorgeous! I've always admired Lindbergh. She's the perfect choice as the new face, too.
i think it's a pretty shot, but they definitely could have put a LITTLE more effort into making it look like she is actually perched on the tour eiffel. i mean, really. it looks like she's just standing in front of a green screen.
I like the idea but agree with rmur, Marion still looks fab
I can't even tell that the shot is supposed to be in Paris. They needed more supporting details in the shot. Also, as others point out, it looks like she's standing in front of a greenscreen. They should have had an actual Eiffel-like structure in front of the screen for her to lean against or stand on to avoid the perspective problem.
Gorgeous ad! But I have to agree with TsuKata too
The shot of her is great, but it doesn't look very realistic
...is it supposed to?
gorgeous, and i don't think they were really shooting for realistic. if you've seen the miss dior cherie ads with the balloons, it's clearly not a realistic scene, haha.
i love this shot! marion looks gorgeous, her hair and makeup look fantastic. i don't mind these ads looking unrealistic, because i'm not expecting realism in these, but i would liked to have seen the shot pan back a little to incorporate more of the eiffel tower and the city. there are other parisian landmarks that aren't in the backdrop.
stunning,Dior ads are always amazing!!
Very cool ad, but I agree with the comments about the lack of perspective. It especially bugs me that her right foot is on the same level as her left foot... yet it would be floating in the air (instead of stepping on the Eiffel Tower)? Her hand looks a little awkward too.
Marion Cotillard is so freaking pretty and I like the ad but it could use some work cause it still looks pretty fake, I mean the photo-editing and stuff.. The finishing product is probably much better-looking than this
I think it would have been rad if you could see more of Paris. You can instantly see that it's the Eiffel tower, but I would have loved a big view of Paris like in the latest Dior Cherie perfume ads (the model with the balloon floating above the rooftops of Paris)
she looks fab
I think the actual shot of her is amazing, and the concept is good, but it just looks so ridiculously fake... Her right foot seems to be standing on an invisible ledge.
Since when do fashion ads have to be realistic?
She is a lovely classy lady! I loved her in A Good Year
agree with lemuse20 and i love the ad
I don't mind that it looks fake, what I don't like is that they show so little of the Tower. if you're going to use such an iconic omage, use more of it - I didn't even realize what it was until I read the caption. she looks stunning as usual, though, so I think it works...
What's with her right leg (left one in the picture)? It looks like she's stepping on air...
But yeah she does look beautiful in it
Très belle!
I love this! She looks so gorgeous.
gorgeous shot
Check out the video at ladydior.com. Its from behind the scenes of the shoot and shows that they were actually on the tower. also marion look great in the video
I love this look and the ad is fine - it is not about Paris or realism - it is about her look and that is shown off beautifully. It looks as if she is standing on a ledge that is high in the air - so her pose is fine. But I LOVE everything about this look - she is beautiful!
