New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg declared Oct. 24 Giorgio Armani day in honor of the legendary designer's longstanding relationship with the city. And the timing is right on the money: tonight, Armani will stage a retrospective showing of more than 100 of the couture looks he's created for his Privé line. Armani will also celebrate the opening of an exhibit featuring some of his unique pieces called Eccentrico at the Super Pier. The exhibit will be open to the public from Friday through the weekend.
"In such a special day for me," Armani said. "It is a great honor to receive this recognition, which reaffirms a strong personal and professional bond with New York, a city that has given me and continues giving me so much."
And in the spirit of giving, we're celebrating this day with a look back at some of the most fabulous moments of his luxurious life, here in the gallery.
