Givenchy Creates Colorful Helmet Hair in Paris

Givenchy's Fall 2013 collection was designed for the strong woman in mind, and no fierce female would be complete without a bold beauty statement.

Givenchy's Fall 2013 collection was designed for the strong woman in mind, and no fierce female would be complete without a bold beauty statement. And that's just what the colorful hair coming down the Parisian runway was all about. The models' strands were pinned up in multiple coils and then painted various bold hues, including blue, pink, purple, and orange. With such eye-catching hair, the makeup was kept simple with shades of pink on the eyes, lips, and cheeks, which is a lot more wearable than the colorful coifs.

The look: Vibrant hair with shimmering pink makeup.
Who would wear it: The empowered woman who likes to make heads turn.
Color scheme: Rainbow hair with a surprisingly sweet pink makeup palette.

The Givenchy Fall '13 collection certainly catered to a strong, stylish woman. It came as no surprise then that long sheer skirts, tougher knits, toggled outerwear, and structured striped boots all made the styling cut. With a front row that included Jessica Chastain, Frank Ocean, Amanda Seyfried, Kanye West, and Kim Kardashian, Riccardo Tisci's Fall 2013 show for Givenchy was among the buzziest of Paris Fashion Week outings yet. Givenchy Fall 2013 Runway

The Givenchy Fall '13 woman is strong — even the show notes described this collection as one defined by "future feminism."
Givenchy Runway | Fashion Week Fall 2013 Photos

The Givenchy Fall '13 woman is strong — even the show notes described this collection as one defined by "future feminism." What exactly does that look like? To start, Riccardo Tisci sent out long sheer skirts, trimmed with embellishments, then topped them with tougher (and sometimes sparkly) knits. Long gone are the Rottweiler prints, now replaced by sweeter Bambi-printed sweatshirts. Zippered layers were styled with ruffled leather midi-length skirts, hints of rose prints and plaid were scattered throughout, and the outerwear showcased toggle-front detailing and wide waist-cinching belts. Meanwhile, the shoes — midcalf boots with bold stripes — and rosebud hair caps rounded out each model's look with equal parts softness and structure. Considering the front row that included Kim Kardashian, Kanye West, Jessica Chastain, Amanda Seyfried, Nicole Richie, and Frank Ocean, we're pretty sure Tisci's latest for Givenchy will be seen off-runway very soon.
