There are just as many unexpectedly luxurious treats in Frida Giannini's Resort 2014 collection for Gucci as there are essential pieces for surviving early Winter. A white cashmere coat, for example, closes at the waist with a robe-like tie, and a woven mink hoodie looks especially cozy.
But even those pieces, sumptuous as they are, have to compete with generously cut shirts and pants in Lurex and paisley tunics that telegraph the feeling of being on — or just near — a beach in the '70s. Giannini told WWD she designed this collection for "an up-and-coming Jerry Hall beaming with breezy style," and she achieved that look best in a sheer halter jumpsuit covered in blue metallic polka dots.
There are some statement t-shirts in this collection, too — one of which simply says "Frida's." But Giannini certainly didn't need to take that detour into screen printing to leave her mark on this collection. A full look, here in the gallery.
