H&M's latest trend story casts Joan Smalls as the face of its black and white — and totally romantic — new narrative. The retailer proves that the season's must-have color duo is hardly two-dimensional in its aptly titled Romantic Edge lookbook. The looks showcase the supermodel in both smart, snappy black and white prints and softer white dresses and lace, as well as tough-girl (faux) leather jackets. It's easy to get lost just staring at the gorgeous photography (like those shots of Miss Smalls making her way down a flower-covered stairway), but you won't want to lose sight of the styling lessons at work here. Keep clicking for a little H&M-guided how-to in mixing prints and pulling off the hard-meets-soft approach to dressing — it's all inside.
Since the news of an Isabel Marant H&M collaboration broke early this morning, we've been doing what any fashion-obsessed girl would do: plotting our wish list for the collection's November debut.
That's no easy task when you consider what trends Marant has spawned as the mastermind behind the wedged-sneaker craze, possibly the most perfect suede bootie, and countless other cool-girl pieces. It's not easy to pick favorites, but we've done our research and narrowed it down to just the 11 pieces we're hoping the designer delivers to an H&M near us.
H&M has tapped Parisian designer Isabel Marant for its Fall collaboration — a match-up that seems destined to resonate with both her loyal following and the consumer audience at large. "I am flattered by this collaboration. H&M works with the best designers, and this invitation is an exciting honor," Marant stated.
Aside from single-handedly kick-starting the wedge-sneaker revolution, Marant has established herself again and again as an arbiter of cool-girl Parisian style. In as much, her signature mix of urban appeal, bohemian themes, and rock 'n' roll mentality will serve as the core elements of this exclusive H&M lineup. "I aim at creating something real — something women want to wear in their everyday lives — with a certain carefree style. I think this is very Parisian: you dress up but don't pay too much attention to it, and you still look sexy. The collection is infused with this kind of easiness and attitude."
Set to debut Nov. 14 in 250 stores worldwide, the collection will feature women's clothing and accessories, as well as a collection for men, a first for Marant. More on the collaboration, including a video interview with the designer, is here in the gallery.

While some of Europe's largest retailers have agreed to a set of safety guidelines produced in response to last month's Bangladesh garment factory collapse, only one American company has signed on. The agreement, which would safeguard against incidents like the collapse, which killed over 1,100 people, has a May 15 deadline.

Statement pieces plus basics give way to one pretty flawless (and pretty easy) outfit formula. That's what you'll learn in H&M's latest Spring styling lookbook, where t-shirts, staple cotton maxi skirts, and denim cutoffs are reinvented with embellished tops, textured jackets, and printed miniskirts. It's the "it doesn't take much" approach to elevated dressing that's employed here — just a hint of bohemian print on a sweatshirt or a touch of lace on a skirt has a major effect on how the whole outfit adds up (even when the other half of that look is just a pair of your favorite well-worn Summer shorts). And if you're looking for serious outfit perks that come in the form of just one great piece, you'll want to check out the label's graphic-printed t-shirt dress or revamp on the heat-wave-ready LBD. Just click through to see Frida Gustavsson showing off the latest Spring pieces — and the styling lessons that come with them.
Today's H&M Loves Music pool party was held at the expansive Merv Griffin Estate just outside of Palm Springs. The bash was the first such event the global fashion brand has thrown in conjunction with Coachella. The festivities featured paddleboat rides and ping-pong tables, carnival snacks including popcorn, cotton candy, and churros, and a live poolside performance by Santigold. Santigold hit the stage late in the afternoon and played some of her biggest hits, including "L.E.S. Artistes," for the crowd. During the soiree, we caught up with Sophia Bush, who was lounging under an umbrella with a group, and spotted Darren Criss taking a turn on the paddleboats. Diane Kruger and Joshua Jackson also arrived with friend and designer Jason Wu and relaxed by the pool.
Later on, Diane and Joshua transitioned to the Coachella festival itself, where they shared a few kisses in the VIP sections as bands played. Several famous couples have been making the rounds at the festival this year. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart were at Coachella last night, Michael Polish and Kate Bosworth spent yesterday afternoon checking out bands including Beach House, and even Hilary Duff and her husband Mike Comrie made their way out to the desert to take in the first of two Coachella weekends.
