Miu Miu Debuts Fall 2011 Ad Campaign With Hailee Steinfeld

Miu Miu's newest ad campaign, featuring young True Grit actress Hailee Steinfeld, has been released. Citing Hailee's ability to "carry mature and elegant silhouettes, while still remaining true to her youthful spirit," Miu Miu chose to focus on unconventional elegance and femininity. Who did they choose to capture such elegance? Bruce Weber, who so aptly captured the beauty of young men's six-pack abs in many an ad campaign for Abercrombie and Fitch. Bad idea. If they wanted it to work they should have made it more fun. It's way too serious of a campaign for a young girl. I love what Elle Fanning did for Rodarte. They did a fantastic job working with her and it didn't look like she was playing dress up like Haliee does here. I don't understand why they would hire a little girl and then age her with that styling.

she is a child. i no more want to see what a teenage actress looks like in clothes than a teenage model. We should be developed enough that we prioritise protecting children alongside offereing them oppertuinities and experiences to grow. I have no issue with them doing some acting, or some modelling where appropriate, but working and acting as adults when they are still growing is completely wrong, and sadly something they won't realise themselves until its far too late.
