i admit it! i would never wear white after labor day and usually am mortified if i am wearing black shoes with a brown bag!

If I have to I will, but always with a hint of my own style. Like at school I'd wear a cute pair of non-uniform shoes or a cute skirt. Or when I worked at Topshop, Skinny jeans were in and we had to wear those or slim leg jeans, but I still wore my comfortable slouch jeans.

in school there were restrictions on how short things could be. i have super long legs so everything was short on me. i got in trouble quite often for my short shorts and skirts. oh well.

My grandparents are very formal. So, when I am around them I tend to dress more conservatively and usually not as casual as I normally would.

Maybe it isn't considered a "restriction" actually, but I cannot wear white after Labor Day, black with navy blue, black with brown, etc. I can't force myself to do it! I guess I don't because I choose not to, but I think in our culture those are considered "dont's" of fashion. Also, when I was younger my parents were quite strict about what I wore. I always dressed very abercrombie and fitch-like preppy but always wanted to wear the clothes in the Victoria's Secret catalog, lol. I always told my mom that when I grew up, I was going to dress sexy!

12 years of catholic school and I never had to wear a uniform. The only restrictions I make for myself are wearing dark clothes to a funeral and not wearing white to a wedding. And covering my shoulders and legs when I'm visiting a church. That's about it.

Not so much. We had a dress code in school - no short shorts or miniskirts, no bare midriffs, no spaghetti straps - but outside of that we could wear mostly what we wanted. And I've been lucky enough to mostly work in offices with no dress code. I wear jeans and flip flops to my office most days. Today, though, I'm going to see a client so I'm wearing dress pants and a blouse. :oy:

I would imagine that everyone will have to adhere to fashion restrictions some day in their life. For those who already spoke, it was mostly school uniforms. For me, it's the workplace. There are rules. I still wear what I want but I have to make sure they are within guidelines. For example, no jeans. Luckily, there is casual Friday!

yup, Catholic School for 13 years! (k-12th) I will forever loathe box pleats! By Sr. year we had all hemmed our skirts really short & I did love knee sock. It was worse for the boys, they had to wear green pants!

School uniform from 4 to 18! I have had an aversion to wine colours ever since. Other than that just covering up where necessary for visiting temples and things around Asia... I can't believe sororities have dress codes!!! Smart casual and matching outfits??? For real? Why does anyone join them?
