there is a very, very simple solution to the conundrum of vpls:
1. wear panties that fit.
2. wear pants that fit.
I definitely don't do thongs. Seriously, they give you a "visible thong line" anyway, so what's the difference? If I'm getting all dressed up, I might wear Spanx, or a pair of really nice boy-short cut satin underwear, which never show lines.
