Every week, we bring you the best shoppable fashion and lifestyle stories from our partner Lifestyle Mirror. Today, we're sharing Taylor Davies's post about layering outerwear.

Are you tired of talking about how cold it is yet? We certainly are. We're also already bored of zipping into the same shapeless down coat every, single, day. We can't control the temperature, but we can control how we dress — so let's change it up, shall we? By smartly layering key outerwear pieces, you can bundle up in style.

You may have to play around in your closet a bit to figure out which silhouettes, weights, and proportions can we worn together, but don't be afraid to get creative. A slim, light down vest from Uniqlo can be layered under a leather moto jacket, and an oversize fur gilet can we worn over a short down jacket.

Your denim jacket is going to be the easiest layer to work with; just button it up, and wear it under everything from your wool overcoat to your peacoat to your heavy parka. We also love how a little varsity or bomber jacket looks under any of your bigger outerwear pieces. Just throw your coat over your shoulders like a cape if things feel too bulky.

For extra warmth, don't forget to add a chic scarf and wide-brim hat to further insulate against the chill.
