How to Make a Bridal Belt

Hi I'm Allison McNamara and you're watching FabSugarTV. For today's DIY I'm going to show you how to make your own embellished bridal belt. This is the perfect way to add a touch of sparkle to your wedding day look. Here's what you'll need: three yards of 1.5 inch ribbon, six yards of lace of your choice, one yard of embellishment, scissors, a hot glue gun and glue sticks. Today making my bridal belt out of ribbons, lace and rhinestone to give it a romantic, whimsical feel. But the most important thing is to make a belt that matches your wedding dress. so pick your ribbon and embellishments accordingly, and even use a little color if you want, perhaps something blue. The first step is to measure out your ribbon around your waist where you want the belt to go. It's really important that you have enough excess ribbon in back to tie a really pretty bow. Keep that in mind; it'll be about one to two yards. Now you have your ribbon, you need your lace. So what you want to do is make sure you turn your ribbon over so you don't glue to the pretty side, because once side, or on both sides. Do not glue on the pretty side. And then you measure out your lace. Now, we're going to glue the lace onto the ribbon on the back side, not the shiny side, and middle of the ribbon. We love the delicate effect of tiered lace, so we're going to add on another layer. You repeat the same steps, so measure it out and then glue it on, but this time and instead of gluing it in the middle of the ribbon, you're going to glue it on the bottom edge right here. Then we need to find the middle point of our belt, so you're going to hold it in half and mark your middle point. That's going to be the center of your embellishment. And next we're gluing on our embellishment to cover up this glue line right here that we created when we glued the lace onto the ribbon. a tip here is to put rhinestones only around your waist and leave the ends free. That way you can easily tie a bow in the back. We are almost done. Very last thing. Polish off your edges with a diagonal cut. And, there you go.
