Jenna Lyons Interview Fall 2012 NYFW

Hi, it's Allison McNamara, and you're watching Fab Flash at New York Fashion Week. We caught up with Style Setter Jenna Lyons at the fall J. Crowe Presentation, where she told me how to wear sequins per day. I think the most important thing is there's always gotta be something that says...counteracts it. So if you're wearing a sequin, wear it with boy's jean or a boyfriend trouser. Like, don't wear a sequin with a pencil skirt necessarily might look a little bit too like I'm going out at night, like I need something to take it down. The line was filled with standout head to toe prints even down to the shoes. We love the idea of head to toe print and then shoe as well, and I think it's just a playful idea of wearing a suit, and I think it kind of turns that idea on its head and sort of that old school idea of, you know, the 70's, soft dressing. And it just seems a little bit more modern to do it this way, especially with the classic, pointy-toed shoe and the right hair and makeup. I love it. And this season, J Crew added a new element to their collection: shoes designed by Manolo Blahnik. This is his classic, classic shoe that we fell in love with. So we had a conversation with them and said would you be willing to make shoes for our presentation and so we were to give him some of our prints and some of our colours and they did them for us for the presentation which was really fun and so we were excited to be able to do that. It was just something different and I felt like changing it up a little. It's no secret that Jenna is a master at mixing the formal with the informal, but what you may not know is her hidden talent.
