While the holidays are prime time for sequined wear, you can still wear your shimmering tops, bottoms, and little dresses right now, as long as you stick to a few strategic style guidelines. The key to working Summer sequins is to make it look casual and nonchalant. Forget ultra-tight silhouettes and think breezy, not clingy. To help show you how, we've garnered fashionable examples from Joy Bryant, Mary-Kate Olsen, and Diane Kruger, who all suited up in their own versions of Summer-perfect, easy sequined styles. Star-Studded Met Costume Gala Is a Rainbow of Fashion — Check Out Hundreds of Pictures!

The annual Costume Institute Gala at the Met in NYC was another amazing affair last night.

The annual Costume Institute Gala at the Met in NYC was another amazing affair last night. The fashion was incredible, and among all the ladies, Sienna Miller is currently winning best dressed in Pucci, which she perfectly accessorized by stepping out with Jude Law on her arm! Gisele Bundchen also wore a short black dress and had a hot date in husband Tom Brady. Similarly sporting dark and stormy looks was Kristen Stewart, whose Chanel was one of the most talked about, Zoe Saldana in Calvin Klein, and Nicole Richie in a cool metallic Marc Jacobs. Weigh in on all the fashion with all of Fab and Bella's polls!

It wasn't all navy, black, and gray — there were some gorgeous colors mixed in to fit the theme of American Women. Blake Lively was all legs in her bright blue Marchesa, and Rachel Zoe was a ray of sunshine in her yellow MJ. Carey Mulligan and January Jones were both wearing short purple numbers, but there was a world of difference between the Oscar nominee's Miu Miu and the Mad Men star's Yves Saint Laurent. Kate Bosworth was sadly without Alexander Skarsgard but held her own in Valentino, and Kerry Washington went a little bolder with her red, which was Thakoon for Gap.

Elsewhere on the red carpet it was a very white night — Diane Kruger's CK went perfectly with Joshua Jackson's dapper suit, and Emma Watson's Burberry was a bit daring. Katy Perry kept her style playful as always, sporting a glow in the dark gown! Jessica Alba's Sophie Theallet for Gap hugged her curves, while Sarah Jessica Parker's shimmery Halston made for some fantastic photos. Jennifer Lopez's Zuhair Murad was also among the evening's popular style statements — it's impossible to run down them all, so click through the huge gallery and stay tuned for lots of coverage of the event, afterparties, beauty how-tos, fashion highlights, and so much more!

Even More Photos From the Costume Institute Gala's Afterparties!

The afterparty fun following last night's Costume Institute Gala continued on, with even more celebs heading over to the main bash at the Mark hotel.

The afterparty fun following last night's Costume Institute Gala continued on, with even more celebs heading over to the main bash at the Mark hotel. Diane Kruger traded her long-sleeved white Calvin Klein gown for a short red number to attend with Joshua Jackson. She evidently hopes that soon he'll be more than a boyfriend — when a reporter asked if a ring she was wearing signified an engagement, Diane said, "I wish." Anne Hathaway also changed out of her Valentino dress for something more manageable, though Emma Watson kept on her long Burberry. She's out on the social scene despite being in the middle of exams at Brown. Emma said, "I have just had one of my exams. It went pretty well, which is good, two left.” Bar Refaeli, meanwhile, brought her girlfriends and not Leonardo DiCaprio along.

Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale stuck together, and Robert Pattinson's Remember Me costar, Emilie de Ravin, was surrounded by pals. Glee's Matthew Morrison headed to the Standard with Emmy Rossum hot on his heels, though once inside he was busy getting down with model Natasha Poly. Alexander Wang stayed close to Zoe Kravitz after they posed together on the red carpet, and Jessica Alba brought her husband Cash Warren. Naomi Campbell was all smiles in her fancy car after her episode on Oprah aired earlier in the day exploring her dark side. It was a huge night for fashion in the Big Apple — make sure to check out all of the style and beauty news!

Here we have Joy Bryant "breaking the rules" but pulling it off. Note how she paired a palette of warm, bronzed eye shadows with subtly cool raspberry-pink lipstick — and with her hair pulled back into a high bun, it makes the pink shade stand out even more. The actress is always a stunner, but do you think her warm-meets-cool style works for her, or would you have liked to have seen something a bit more dramatic?
