Kate Moss, Patron Saint of Glastonbury Style

Jun 25 2014 - 5:30am

For us, Kate Moss [1] and Glastonbury go together like nobody's business — and with this year's festival starting next week, we've got her on the brain. It's images of Kate — not muddy fields, boldly named headliners, or rows of tipis set up for exhausted partiers [2] — that come to mind when we start thinking of the classic English music festival.

Whether or not you're packing to get yourself across the pond next week for the start of this year's festivities, there's something to be learned (and copied) from the model's slightly grungy and totally boho outfits.

Kate Moss [3] maintained her cool-girl reputation in a shearling leather jacket, black skinny denim, black leather boots, and dramatic cat-eye sunglasses at the 2013 Glastonbury Festival.

Kate strolled the Glastonbury grounds in June 2013 looking every bit the rock-and-roll chick in all black and a metallic cardigan.

When rain isn't a worry, slouchy boots make for a perfect pick. Also, always opt for pieces that look like they were just scooped off the bottom of your closet.

Kate's not one to spend time fretting about how pale stems will look in cutoffs. She circumvents the problem altogether by pulling on a pair of fishnets.

When perching backstage in 2007, she picked a beaded top reminiscent of Almost Famous. This is a total "do."

After browsing pics of the always-spot-on Kate, like this one from 2005, it becomes very apparent that shorts can't be too short at Glastonbury.

Do like Kate and deal with hot weather by wearing as little as possible. In this instance, her tiny gray shorts were topped with a navel-skimming shirt. And if your bag gets a little muddy? Don't stress out about it!

Likely familiar with the bad weather of her native country, Kate might have also been the first one to teach us that bad weather is nothing to play around with: galoshes can look good with anything.

And yes, that's a tailored vest worn as a shirt!

Accessories are a good place to show your festival style too. Skinny straps and tons of embellishments are a good place to start.

When you're in the groove, there's no shame. We love Kate's confidence to wear whatever she wants — and the added panache that comes courtesy of a thick studded belt.

Leave the neons and crazy bright prints to Coachella [4] and Bonnaroo [5] — Glastonbury is all about muted tones.

A simple t-shirt shape is made glam in a metallic fabric.

There's no shame in toting a large satchel to ensure you can carry all the necessities you'll need for a long day on your feet — Kate did it!

At the festival in 2005, Kate kicked off the wide, low-slung leather belt craze. Dresses everywhere were instantly transformed.

As a musician's main squeeze, Kate did her best rocker dressing. Not one to let something like mud slow her down, she stepped out in spiked booties and patent leather pants in 2007.

Back in 2003, Kate seemed to be more into roomy, ultramini dresses rather than the shorts she's favored in recent years.

She often reaches back to past decades for style inspiration, picking bohemian styles that smack of classic bands from the '70s.

Also, the vest is still in!

For a spot on stage with then-boyfriend Pete Doherty's band, Kate went for the rocker look with skinny leather jeans and a capelet.

Hours spent outside turn sunglasses from fashion accessory to necessity. Pick a pair you love that flatters your face shape.
