Fringe is popular for its '70s appeal and freewheelin' nature. I prefer my fringe sleek — call it controlled fringe. Take for instance this Vanessa Bruno Fringe Hobo ($830). The dark palette is not an obvious choice and I like the short fringe. Rocker meets hippie. Sadly, this bag is not in my budget so I'm off to find a cheaper option . . .

This B. Makowsky Andalusia Shoulder Bag ($188) has the same short fringe and sleek vibe without the heavy price tag. The threaded detailing is a nice touch and I prefer the shorter handle.

I'm liking fringe on purses and heels but alas, most of the choices are in leather or suede...I'm still searching for an animal-friendly alternative.

Ok to be perfectly honest these purses look like something from the 80's or the 90's. But maybe it will grow on me the more fringe I see as a trend these seasons...

i was about to say that i have never seen V Bruno as a 'cheap' option, and then i realize that you weren't referring to that as the option to get. i have so many pieces from her collections over the years - and it's broken my bank! i like the version that you found, and i've seen a few bags around that are similar, but a little shorter in height which is something that i go for when i get bags like these. i figure that they HAVE to be smaller so i remember to use them only on special occasions.
