Nicole Richie toasted to her February Lucky cover with a party at Soho House in LA last night. The designer was joined by her husband Joel Madden as well as friends Ginnifer Goodwin and Zooey Deschanel at the cocktail party, where Nicole debuted lighter, shorter hair courtesy of her stylist Andy LeCompte. Nicole has a lot to celebrate having just unveiled her latest Winter Kate collection, as well. The Old Hollywood-inspired range will hit stores soon, kicking off what promises to be a successful 2011 for the starlet. She married longtime boyfriend Joel in 2010, and this year she'll take on another milestone when she turns 30. She told us she doesn't yet have plans to celebrate the big day, which is still about nine months away, and joked that she's just "trying not to think about it." The Richie-Madden family marked another important day over the weekend, throwing Harlow a third birthday party that was attended by famous family friends like the Maguires and the Stefani-Rossdales. So does little Harlow share Nicole's passion for fashion? Nicole said she thinks her daughter's still a bit young to show a real interest in style, but the three-year-old will certainly have an amazing closet to borrow from when she's old enough!

The Trick to Getting Shiny, Nonbrassy Blond Like Ali Larter
Ali Larter's enviable blond highlights take center stage in the August issue of Lucky magazine. And it's thanks to the clever techniques of Redken Creative Consultant For Color, Tracey Cunningham.
To get a similar effect, first have your colorist highlight your hair. Then, ask him or her to tone the lightened portions by using the following formula: equal parts of ammonia-free clear glaze and violet toner. (Tracey used Shades EQ Crystal Clear Glaze with 09V Platinum Ice.) These formulations combined will not only help lock in shine and counterbalance unwanted orange or yellow hues, but are gentle on hair that's just been bleached.
