Maiyet's Resort 2014 collection marks the first time the brand's cofounder Kristy Caylor has acted as creative director in a few seasons. It also shows that even the finely crafted and intricately designed items the brand is known for can be filtered through a clean-lined and pleasantly muted lens.
The first look in the collection — a geometric-print mackintosh — epitomizes this duality, being maximal in graphic appeal and minimal in shape. There are also simple sleeveless tops that have longer hems in the back than in the front, paired with patterned skirts and solid shorts, and an interesting cream-and-orange knitted crop top and shorts. And what's more modern right now than baring one's midriff?
