Marc Jacobs Reschedules Both Fashion Week Shows
Apparently even big designers have trouble getting their stuff through customs. Thanks to delivery delays, Marc Jacobs has had to reschedule its show from Monday, Feb. 11 to Thursday, Feb. 14 at 8 p.m. "We're missing bags, shoes, and two fabrics," brand President Robert Duffy told WWD.
br>
And it's not just the mainline show that's been affected; the Marc by Marc Jacobs showtime has been changed as well. That show will now take place at the Lincoln Center tents on Monday at 8 p.m. — the Collection's original spot on the schedule — because the set for the Marc Jacobs show is already being built at the Lexington Armory.

"Marc and I are extremely sorry for this inconvenience. We just want to have the best show possible and show all the product that our design team has been working on so hard for the last six months. We completely understand if people have to get on a plane to go to London," Duffy explained. "We're not expecting people to change those plans or other plans just for us. We are live-streaming the show. Still, we recognize the significant inconvenience and are very sorry about the situation."

Later the brand tweeted, "Sorry everyone, we just want to make it right," before tweeting a formal apology note.

Riccardo Tisci Renews Contract With LVMH, but What About Marc Jacobs?
The industry rejoiced today over the news that Riccardo Tisci has extended his contract at Givenchy, but there's no word yet on whether Marc Jacobs has signed on for another stint at Louis Vuitton.
Tisci will continue in his role as Givenchy's creative director for the next three years while the brand "shifts into an expansion mode" that hopes to capitalize on its current popularity. Tisci's wildly salable clothing — like the rottweiler t-shirt from Fall 2011 that became a hit with customers and celebrities alike — are doubtless a part of his staying power at the brand.
In early January, Jacobs mentioned at both the WWD CEO Summit and a talk with Fern Mallis at 92nd Street Y that he and his business partner Marc Duffy were heading to Paris to talk about their contracts with LVMH, which were last renewed at the beginning of 2011. "I'm not really sure," he said when WWD's executive editor Bridget Foley pressed him about specifics at the summit. "I know that we're discussing renegotiations."
There's not much evidence to suggest that Jacobs hasn't signed on the dotted line, although when he talked about his tenure at Louis Vuitton with Mallis, he said, "I've been there for 15 years — though I don't know if I'll be there for 15 more." Jacobs is the only creative director Louis Vuitton has ever had, and it's difficult to imagine what the brand would look like without his aesthetic and elaborate runway staging.
But creative directors — unlike Supreme Court justices or tenured university professors — don't get lifetime appointments. Jacobs was, for a long time, the front-runner for the creative director's chair at Dior, suggesting that he's prepared to leave Vuitton for the right opportunity. But after the Dior talks ended, Jacobs said of his job, "There is so much more left to do and building Louis Vuitton into a fashion company is something nobody else can say they really started."
We're Trying On Spring's Superchic Black and White Trend (Right Now)
There's no denying the ample amount of chic black and white hues spotted on the Spring '13 runways. Marc Jacobs and Michael Kors showcased sleek checked and striped prints, while others, namely Alexander Wang and Ralph Lauren, focused on cool colorblocking in the graphic palette. There will be no shortage of options to shop this coming season, but you don't actually have to wait until Spring to get the look. Just shop our editors' picks below to capture the mood (and exact two-toned scheme) now.

Marc Jacobs on How His Psychiatrist Helped Him Make the Dior Decision

br>
In a wide-ranging conversation with Fern Mallis on stage at the 92nd Street Y this week, Marc Jacobs said he discussed not taking over for John Galliano in sessions with his psychiatrist.
"It was actually my psychiatrist who said, 'How is this going to improve the quality of your life?' and I said, 'It's not.' I mean, two more shows — and after Galliano, what he has done — when am I going to live my life?" Jacobs asked.
The designer also talked about growing up in New York City, studying at Parsons, and being treated for substance abuse. A few highlights from the conversation below.
On going to college: "Every day was like a fashion parade. There was a little troop of us. It was me, a girl named Susan Martin, Chris Iles, and Tracy Reese. The four of us were inseparable. We were the overachievers. We would do five times what was required just because we really enjoyed it."
On the critics: "There are very few, and I don't mean this in a bitchy way, journalists who I respect. I don't think a lot of them know what they're looking at. . . . I'm fine with constructive criticism but I'm not so good with stupidity. It's one thing to say 'I like or I don't like' but to misread or mislabel something or to be out of sorts because it was raining, or a late show, or you were hungry. That just all feels not valid."
On his sobriety: "I wouldn't say I'm 100 percent sober. What I'm saying is perfection is not my deal. Yeah, maybe I have had a glass of wine or a couple of whiskeys. Maybe I've smoked a joint or something like that. Or other things, but I'm mostly sober."
On what he tells aspiring designers: "What's worked for me is not quitting, being more passionate about what I do, and not giving up. And when I don't believe in myself, turning to other people who believe in me."

Meet Ruby Jean Wilson, the New Face of Marc Jacobs (Update: The Spring 2013 Ads Are Here!)
Ruby Jean Wilson, the 18-year-old model who opened and closed Marc Jacobs's Spring 2013 show, stars in the collection's ad campaign — and a first look just made its way online. Juergen Teller shot the ads, in which Wilson preserved the Edie Sedgwick look she adopted for the show.
br>
Jacobs's campaign is among the first of what will undoubtedly be many campaigns for the Scottish-born beauty, who started modeling in 2009 and made her runway debut in Lacoste's Spring 2011 show. Since then she's appeared in editorials for Teen Vogue, Dazed & Confused, Oyster, and Wonderland, among others. Wilson also starred in the Fall 2012 campaign for the Australian brand Jac + Jack.
