Hi, it's Allison McNamara and you're watching Fab Flash at New York Fashion Week. J Crew shows both women's and men's collection here at New York Fashion Week. And we caught up with both lead designers. I started off the season looking at books by Irving Penn. I always felt a connection to his photographs and I started going like what's the connection between Irving Penn and J. Crew? And I realized that it was because he always made women look so elegant and classic and timeless and chic. And that's really what we strive to do at J Crew. I was inspired by this picture of Ezra James. He's a poet and I found this book in a vintage shop in Brooklyn and there was a picture of him on the cover and he looked amazing, like polished and clean and put-together and sophisticated. So that became kind of like what the line is right now. J Crew is known for pairing dressy separates with more casual pieces. And Tom told me how to wear sequins per day. You know, it's sort of just, a part of the DNA of J Crew. Women walk around the office in sequins during the day. It's crazy. It's something that, it's so dynamic about deep brown. And so, it just happens naturally, you know, you just put a python skirt with like, a feral sweater, just this odd mixing of high/low and dressy/not dressy. And it just seems to be really feel right. So it's always part of it. So you don't actually even think about it. You kind of just do it automatically. And even though guys don't have sequins, they can still have fun with fashion. You know, it depends on your personal style. I think guys lately, they want to look a little bit more polished. I see more precise hair cuts. I think guys want to be educated a little bit more than, maybe, in the past. For guys who makes up things a little bit, it might be something he has in his closet already and hopefully we can show him through our catalog and through what we do online, like a different combinations he can do. And it will be great if he come to our store and look for stuff, like we name our garments also, for instance, the low suits. We have the Stanton Garment tight pants. So, it's just about making it easy for him when he comes in to shop because guys don't like to shop and I think it's our job to make his life as easy as possible when he does. Fall was all about head to toe prints at J Crew. And Tom told me his tip for trying out this gold look. Style tip for girls this season is head-to-to dressing. That's, we're calling like a fashion uniform in a way. So, it's taking print or fabric or a color, and just wearing it head to toe. We even have some looks where you even have the shoe that matches, so it's a really cool idea. You can wear them all together and not even think about what you're wearing, but also separate the pieces of it and just wear the really great shoe or wear the top with jeans. So it's really fun. And when Tom and Frank aren't designing for J Crew, he like to shop and be creative. I like to cook and I paint. I paint portrait. So, I haven't done it in a while but I love to do that. If there's a nice shoe anywhere in world I will find it and buy it for myself. Watch the entire J Crew presentation and make sure to come back here for more interviews from New York Fashion Week. I'm Allison McNamara and I'll see you next time on Fab Flash, on Fab Sugar TV.
