Hey, it's Allison McNamara and you're watching Fab Flash at New York Fashion Week. We went backstage at Michael Kors, where he told us how famous American couples inspire his ruggedly elegant fall collection. I thought, "What's this connective thread throughout the years when you think about fabulous, American couples. You know, you go back to the 1930's, you think about people like Clark Gable and Carol Lombard and you go fast forward, let's say, to the nineties and think about JFK Jr. and Carolyn Bessette. Think about Angelina and Brad today. And all of these people, while they're very glamorous, they're very sporty and they're ruggedly elegant, you know? A little thirties, little nineties, longer silhouettes, not a mini skirt in sight, which, it's been a long time that we haven't had a short skirt in a show and really all about beautiful textures. Everything's cozy, everything's tactile, things you wanna just, kind of, wrap yourself up in. And speaking of Angelina Jolie, he told us how to pull off her effortlessly sexy style. Well I always think it's when you don't look like you're trying too hard. You know, boys don't like it when girls look too obvious. I think it's also being comfortable. When you wear something that you're tugging on all the time, skip it. I think it's about confidence. You know, I love a high heel, but if you can't walk in it don't wear it and I think it's really balancing things out. If the dress is really sexy, well, you know what? Make sure that you balance it, out you can wear casual cardigan with it. Do something that throws it off. Stylish women, whether it's Carole Lombard, Angelina Jolie, Carolyn Bissette, all of those women are all women who always trying to make it look easy. Michael has defined himself as the master of American sportswear, but he's still perfecting his vocal skills. I'm a halfway decent singer. Not bad. Oh, no, I did it for Fashion's Night Out. Listen, I sang Defying Gravity with Idina Menzel and if you can do that in public, you can do anything. I'm not Kristin Chenoweth, but I was alright. Don't forget to watch the entire Michael Kors runway show and come back here for more interviews at New York Fashion Week. I'm Allison McNamara and I'll see you next time on Fab Flash on FabSugar TV.
