Last night's God's Love We Deliver Golden Heart Awards drew an incredibly glamorous crowd, all of whom were dressed in Michael Kors. After all, what else would one wear to fete the man of the hour, who presented the first-ever Michael Kors Award for Outstanding Community Service (to Hillary Clinton, no less!)? The stars debuted sexy, body-conscious numbers ranging from strapless cocktail dresses to full-length gowns with thigh-high slits. Jennifer Hudson and Doutzen Kroes opted for modern LBDs accented with metallics, while Karlie Kloss, Olivia Munn, and Hilary Swank showed their love of brights in colorful designs. "Michael's clothes are gorgeous, staple, American classics that never go out of style," Paltrow said in a statement. "I thought it would be wonderful to reinvent some of my favorite vintage Michael Kors looks that I have kept for years, that I wear over and over."
The collection is due out this December and includes some limited-edition clothing created specifically for Goop (there are updates to Paltrow's beloved Kors pieces — among them a peacoat and a peplum turtleneck), as well as some accessories Paltrow picked from Kors's collection.
"We have a pendant on a leather cord for $125, and the big cashmere cape is $2,500," Kors said in an interview with WWD. "It's how I believe women I know who are chic want to dress."
Even though some luxury brands are raising the prices on their goods, a recent study by the market research firm Euromonitor found that sales of high-end products grew by about three percent this year. But that's not because individuals are spending more and more on superexpensive products. It's because we're buying more products from so-called affordable luxury brands.
