Michelle Smith is feeling relaxed for Spring 2009 with a return to a more bohemian lifestyle, but its luxurious edgy socialite wear not simple earthy fare.
Inspired by the great European models of the 1960s, Michelle was looking to interpret a kind of relaxed glamour. But rather than doing it in strictly pop colors as one might be tempted she incorporated what she called "ugly" colors like yellows and browns. Telling us "its more fresh" that way.
We enjoyed her attention to detail which shone in the collection's very serious styling. Bracelets, baubles, Manolo Blahnik sandals, and charming braids to pull the windswept flat ironed locks away from your face on the yacht pulled together a very clear lifetstyle picture. Why reinterpret the wheel, err, beach wear for your trip to St. Tropez?
In a world of very serious fashion we do appreciate the fun. This is happy salable fashion at its finest without a hint of pretension. The whole thing just makes us smile. And really wish the week were over so we could put on something slap happy and go on vacation.
