Milly Resort 2014: The Technicolor Surf Girl

If you're thinking Michelle Smith's Resort lineup looks a lot like the dresses you'd pack for a weekend in, say, Miami, you're right. The designer had Art Basel in mind when crafting her new collection — and she nailed the Miami dress code with splashy primary colors, abstract prints, and party-girl silhouettes.

It's Milly's continued evolution from girlie-girl to fashion-conscious cool-girl furthered with athleticism, exposed zippers, and plenty of body-conscious neoprene. Scuba-inspired dresses are cut expertly to reveal subtle flashes of skin and are built to flatter with contrast paneling, carving a perfect hourglass shape. The other highlights — quite literally — are the brightened-up tribal prints that make their way from skirt-and-top sets onto brilliant citron-boosted handbags, again making them perfect styling fodder for a weekend in South Beach — or customers trying to get the look.
