>> Six months from now when the next transitional items start rolling into stores, there'll be plenty of super-cozy looks on offer from Missoni. Cold-weather layering — in the form of oversized outerwear, body-con dresses, and belted waistlines — was the message, and it came in the form of jumbo coats, boxy fur-trimmed vests, and maxi-length jackets, with plenty of space-dyed turtlenecks and graphic-knit minidresses to wear under them.
In honor of their respective contributions to the fashion world, both Missoni and Iman were awarded prime real estate on Rodeo's Walk of Style. Each of the style superstars were honored with their own Rodeo Walk of Style awards for their work in the industry, joining a long line of designers and fashion pros whose plaques line the prestigious sidewalk, including Tom Ford, Giorgio Armani, and Donatella Versace. So how exactly do you celebrate such an honor? With the kind of star-studded, Missoni-clad celebrity crew you'd expect to turn out for this kind of high-profile homage. We spotted Nicky Hilton in statement-red Missoni, Alexis Bledel in the brand's pastels, and Alessandra Ambrosio suiting in Missoni's sparkles to fête Iman and the Missoni family. Click through to see all of the night's fabulous attendees, and then be sure to share your pick for best dressed in comments!
>> Yesterday's heavy-hitting show schedule made for a full day of fun backstage at Milan Fashion Week. Not only was there plenty of pin-up girl posturing at Dolce & Gabbana — in bejeweled maillots, no less — but also lots of madcap twirling in tomato-printed skirts and aubergine-patterned dresses. At Ferragamo, models pranced in flowing gowns fit for a night in the tropics; at Missoni, oversized fans provided the perfect coy accessory. But the most delicious thing spotted backstage? Earrings made from pasta at Dolce & Gabbana. Get a peek at all this and more, here in the slideshow.

Missoni delivered its trademark color and prints for Spring 2012; this time with textural intrigue, giving way to ruffles, fringe, and tassels adorning knit dresses layered over tailored suit separates. The changes and updates to Missoni's zigzagged knits, on their own, don't feel that dramatic; but in viewing the collection as a whole the evolution is clear. Brown fringe and looser, more abstract prints feel less typical of the brand, and a touch more exotic. Ruffles on asymmetrical dresses, blouses, and even, suiting feels Flamenco-inspired and beautifully femme.
- Trends: Ruffles, fringe, brights, sheer.
- Colors: Yellow, blue, fuchsia, orange, brown.
- Accessories: Gold chain and fringed necklaces, charm and chain necklaces and earrings, zigzagged knit bags and clutches, fans.
- Key Look: A pink and yellow zigzag print knit dress layered over a bright yellow suit.
- Who Would Wear It: Sexy boho types; Margherita Missoni
Missoni lovers all over have long awaited — and dreamed of — the arrival of the iconic prints at a reasonable price. We were captivated with David Stark's pop-up vision, and now Target stores all over the nation have been battling the sheer volume of people trying to get their hands on Missoni for Target clothing and home goods. Due to the overwhelming and enthusiastic response, the site Target.com was also down all day on Tuesday! I'm curious to know: did you wake up super early to try to get your hands on the goods or is Missoni simply not your bag?
Missoni For Target launched nationwide yesterday. And if you weren't in line at a physical location then it's likely you didn't get to purchase anything, as the website was down for most of the day. Good news: Target.com is back up, and while some of the tech accessories are sold out online, you can still add these items to your online cart today.
We were very busy during New York Fashion Week premiering the Missoni For Target line of apparel and housewares in a two-story, pop-up shopping spectacular on the corner of 42nd Street and 6th Avenue, and it was a fabulous project in so many ways. It’s no secret that my love affair with Target is the stuff of dreams, and when the collaboration is with such a cool, iconic fashion house, the ante is upped that much more. This project, though, was also so exciting, because it was a wonderful design challenge. Challenge? Sure. Taking a raw space and transforming it into a temporary fantasy land is always a fun ride for any designer. Working within the Missoni visual language of bold pattern and color, though, is its own world.
