Mothers Who Work in Fashion on Raising Children

The Industry's Moms on Their Own Mothers and Children

The Industry's Moms on Their Own Mothers and Children

Being a mother never goes out of style, but with everyone from Marchesa's Georgina Chapman to model Lara Stone having given birth recently, the focus on motherhood in the fashion industry has never been higher.

So to commemorate Mother's Day, which is this Sunday, May 12, we've rounded up a selection of quotes from women in all corners of the industry on being mothers, raising children, and lessons learned from their own moms. For example, Diane von Furstenberg's mother taught her the importance of personal strength, and Natalie Massenet's daughter taught her the importance of a work-life balance.

And speaking of that balance, Jourdan Dunn said she's had a great experience working as a model since the birth of her son, Riley. "Generally the industry is really supportive," she told Vogue UK. "This is a good career for a working mother."

A look at what some other working mothers in the industry had to say, here in the gallery.
