NY Fashion Week: Cynthia Steffe
I find myself drawn to Cynthia Steffe clothes in stores for much the same reason I like Nanette Lepore. Both designers create extraordinarily unique clothes that are highly wearable and feminine without being fussy. And Steffe's Spring 2007 collection, unveiled Wednesday at New York Fashion Week, is no exception.
There was definitely a retro vibe to these sweet pieces. Some of the designs—including gingham shorts and cap-sleeve white sheath dress—look like something a 20-something might have worn during a 1950s summer in Cape Cod, while the cropped suit jackets with Peter Pan collars recall 1940s working girls.
