Is Naomi Posing In Dennis Basso's Fur Ad Hypocritical?
Naomi Campbell has everyone talking again. The once-PETA poster girl has hooked up with fur designer Dennis Basso to model his Fall '09 ad campaign. "During these economic times, we wanted to take the opportunity to be noticed — to show we are here and here to stay," Basso said. Helping him reach his goal was photographer Tom Munro, stylist Patti Wilson, and creative director Giovanni Bianco. The ad debuts in September, and industry sources are estimating Naomi's paycheck to be in the mid-six-figure dollar range. Given her past work with PETA, do you think it's hypocritical of Naomi to partner with a Basso?

1Actually she stopped associating herself with Peta because of the (tasteless) response they had to Gianni Versace's death.
2It doesn't matter if she associates herself with PETA, it's about the animals and whether you will wear them or not. And yes, she is a total hypocrite. That's like having a problem with MADD's leadership and then becoming pro-drunk driving. She's a bleeping moron.

And I would venture to say that this ad or any ad she appears in which is pro fur is not going to change the mind of someone Anti-Fur and make them want to buy a fur. I just don't think she has that type of pull.
5Of course she has a right to changer her mind! I think it is great Naomi will be promoting fur. Fur has always been and will always be an important part of fashion and I’m glad to hear that one of the most beautiful supermodels decided to promote it. Fur is not only beautiful but it is also one of the most sustainable fabrics. And the warmest one as well. Go Naomi!
6Wearing fur sometimes is good for the environment. I like animals too, but they also need to be managed or they over populate... (ie - I have not had cod fish in over 10 years)

When will people realize that fur is choice and will never be 'wrong'. Let people live their lives by their own system of right and wrong. Unless it's directly affecting you, there is no need to accuse someone of making the wrong.

16Naomi can do what ever she wants! Yeah you can call her a hypocrite for it but its not worth it. Everyone sometimes has to do things they don't want to do but they end up doing it anyway whether they like it or not. Consciously Naomi had a choice in the matter and she made her choice, why should it be anyone else's business.

21Every steak or fur coat means animals died a painful death by electrocution, drowning or being gassed. But who really cares? Only vegetarians. Let Naomi enjoy her fur coats! Many ladies which are wearing fur don't mind, when animals must die for their vanity.
