New York Fashion Week, Fall 2009: Matthew Williamson

I was there. In the flesh. In the fabric. It was euphoria. Williamson has been a long favorite of mine, so I was ecstatic to get an invite to his show. The clothes didn't appear long enough on the runway for me — I could watch for hours. But, here's the flashes of beauty I saw . . .
The palette went from sunset to sunrise, with sparkling stars at midnight. A cozy ombre wool coat made me want to crawl back into bed while oversized cardigans, knitted peplum sweaters, belted fur coats, and fur trimmed outerwear kept things toasty. Some things had a smidge of sparkle, others, like this long sleeved sequined column dress, delivered full-on Williamson shine. Navajo prints and embellished necklines brought in the exotic. Colored fur stoles, animal print shoes, and embellished bags supplied look-at-me accessories. From everyday brights to red carpet beauties, another winner for Williamson that left me wanting more.
