New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: BCBG
Hello lover! The gauzes and tulles that the feminine master Max Azria sent floating down his runway were captivating; they complement his Spring themes of luminosity and transparency perfectly. The corsetry was refined, the pleated full skirts of the dresses divine. Everything seemed to be belted at the waist (take note!), while loose origami pleating was a favorite embellishment. The grey and beige palette, punctuated with blushes and mustards...puts me in the mood to skip Fall and head straight for Spring! A much more wearable collection than the heavy and disorganized Fall collection, I'm sure the starlet trio in the front row - Ashlee, Brittany Snow, Sophie Bush - will be popping up in these luminous designs.
On a separate note, I have to wonder: Vogue editor Anna Wintour was sitting in front of me at the show. Did she approve as much as I did?

French Connection
I'm not adoring the colors. I like my brights to be saturated in hue, this seems too faint-at-heart for me. And I wonder if Miuccia and BCBG had a conference about those shoes?
1I don't know if Ashlee knows how to wear color??
I wanted to add something about the belt cinching at the waist. I remember that this was pretty big last fall and I was mortified to see all the girls on campus back then wearing wide belts so high they actually pushed up their boobs, not cinched their waist.
So if any of you are trying out the belt cinching the waist look (which is so feminine and great!) make sure you wear it on your natural waist, not your rib cage!

I love the bright orange/coral lip color BCBG used. I just love the fabrics and colors they used--not your typical spring summer colors, but they work so well.
Almost every piece is something I would totally wear to work actually.
