New York Fashion Week, Spring 2008: Preen

I was so excited to hear that Preen was coming to show in New York this season. Though they have much on their plate, Preen for Topshop literally just debuted, London-based designers Justin Thornton and Thea Bregazzi did not let my high expectations down.

The color palette was dominated by white, grays, beiges, blues and olives, and the silhouette alternated between slouchy and body-conscious. Silk charmeuse tops paired with sheer tight lace tanks and tailored pants, sexy draped dresses with a patchwork of sequins, jersey, and sheer lace, and slouchy sportswear-inspired jackets all hit the runway with vengeance. Did I mention the T-strap sandals that were totally hot?!

But the best was left for It model Agyness Deyn, a Preen fan herself: a draped sky blue silk charmeuse and lace dress, and an egg-shaped matte white sequined number knotted in the back; absolutely perfect with her shock of platinum hair.

Welcome to America, Preen, I hope you stay for a while...
