Nicole Richie on NBC's Fashion Star

Hey there, it's Allison McNamara and this is Fab Flash. Nicole Richie has a new show called Fashion Star and she told us why it's so different from all the other fashion reality shows out there. Well, I think what makes the show so original is that as America is watching the clothes go down the runway, they can order those clothes immediately online that night or go in the stores the next day and buy it the very next day. So we're talking about immediate fashion, accessible fashion at an accessible price. I personally think it's so cool that you can instantly shop the look. And I'm sure these pieces will sell out in a heartbeat. Nicole is mentoring on the show along side fellow designers Jessica Simpson and John Barbados. And even though they have such different and distinct styles, she says they're leaving their personal tastes out of the show. We are really leaving our personal opinions to ourselves. It's more about encouraging the to go with their gut and know the business and really just be fearless in this competition. Nicole's line House of Harlow 1960, now offers everything, from jewelry to handbags to fabulous shoes. So it's no surprise that when it comes to her personal style, Nicole's go-to is accessories. I would always choose accessories because they can really change up an outfit. You can wear jeans and a t-shirt and throw on a different pair of shoes and it really changes the entire outfit. And when it comes to dressing tips, the boho-chic designer is all about a great blazer. I love to buy jackets. I love to buy coats. I bought a great Helmut Lang black blazer and I wore it, you know, I wore it everyday. I think a great blazer something that's definitely important for fall and winter.
