Olivier Theyskens Fall 2012 Interview

Hi. It's Allison McNamara and you're watching Fab Flash at New York Fashion Week. We went backstage with the designer Olivier Theyskens at the Theyskens' Theory runway show, where he told me how to mix the old with the new. I want to bring some things from the past like to integrate it into her usual way of dressing up. Maybe some things from the old reality past of luxurious ready-to-wear that she can revamp a little bit. Leather and Boucle clad models walked the catwalk to MIA songs Bad Girls, and Olivier told me the inspiration for his retro made modern collection. So I was thinking, let's play it now, because in a month like people would think you were inspired by the Clip or something and they will think like your collection was inspired by the song, right? This time I like to look at some old potential shows like from the 60's and 70's back then. It became a little bit more boring where we were showing off this elegant stuff. But it was always a bit contained and that sort of thing. It was interesting to use this to some trust with a more rock 'n roll edge of the TT girl wardrobe. Most designers get stressed about a big show, but Olivier, for the most part, has kept his cool. I've been relaxed all season. I've been only tense 2 days ago. At one moment I felt really tense and this morning when I woke up I was really like feeling like a stress growing because it's the day of the show. We can't get enough of his downtown cool style. So when did the designer that we love first fall in love with fashion. I'm in love with how you can make yourself beautiful with flow, and this is since ever. I always loved that.
