Oscars Trend: On Fire

The stars were thrilled to be back in the spotlight tonight at the Oscars. A handful were so fired up, in fact, that they gave the red carpet some fierce competition in red hot gowns. Anne Hathaway drenched herself in rosettes via Marchesa, Helen Mirren opted for a deeper red in a Georges Chakra custom-made gown, pop sensation Miley Cyrus oozed sophistication in Valentino, newlywed Katherine Heigl did Old-Hollywood glam in Escada, Julie Christie went short and ruched, and Heidi Klum went va-va-voom in a bright John Galliano (you can even win her dress). The silhouettes were vastly different, but one thing's for sure: these ladies gave Chris de Burgh's lady in red a run for her money.

i thought katherine heigh looked really cheap with that hair and make up. and the dress is just boring. plus she did this old hollywood glamour thing way too many times.i loved heidi's dress though her make up, hair and jewels could have been better. but the dress is so gorgeous that i don't really mind.

I really *hate* Heidi Klum's dress - the colour doesn't suit her haircolour and makeup, it's way too much and look super tacky. :s

man, i hope i look as good as helen mirren does at that age. i like most of these red dresses, although julie christie's one would be difficult for me to pull off. (and what's with the gloves?)

Love the red theme, unexpected. adoring the lines on heigel's gown, she's looking svelte. Anne Hathaway looks gorgeous and this piece is unique with the rosettes, love the color against her fair skin.
