Riccardo Tisci Presents Givenchy Haute Couture Fall 2010

Givenchy’s Riccardo Tisci showed his first presentation-style couture show of ten stunning looks in Paris this week, having decided intimate surroundings and fewer looks was better than a runway for viewing couture. “My style is about the little details," said Tisci. "If a dress goes by with the kind of speed of my shows, you might go, ‘Oh, there’s a lace dress.’ You won’t see why it took 1,600 hours to make."

Inspiration taken from the Mexican Day of the Dead and Frida Kahlo's life (including her chronic back pain) could be seen in the skeletal lace and crystal tracings of the aforementioned Swarovski crystal and lace dress, tiny bone-shaped zipper pulls, and belt made to look like a porcelain spinal column. The tightly edited lineup was exhibited in the gilded rooms of an apartment on Place Vendôme, a perfect backdrop for Tisci's lavishly embellished collection.
