Michael Kors Rails on the Fashion Flock Wearing Fur in September, the Term "Pre-Fall" at His Pre-Fall 2011 Presentation

>> When he showed off his red, blue, and stripe-filled Pre-Fall 2011 collection last week, Michael Kors had plenty to say about the collection's season: "All you writers in the room need to come up with a new word. 'Pre' [as in pre-fall] is disgusting." He continued: "Everyone knows now that resort is important, but because the name 'pre-fall' is so ugly, no one wants to acknowledge that these are the clothes you actually put in your closet.”

It's true: Pre-Fall is “the hardest working season,” according to Kors, because it's in stores for so long — May through July. “It has become the season you sell the most clothes. And they’re clothes that can be whatever season you want them to be. Often it just depends on what’s on your feet.” Kors takes a “soup to nuts” approach, which means work clothes, Summer wedding clothes, casual clothes, and everything in between, including “clothes for the fashion flock to wear to the shows in September. I can’t look at people in fur, tweed, and boots on Sept. 12. You just look ridiculous — like you have no life.”
