2010 Fall New York: Proenza Schouler
Carine Roitfeld might have been on to something with her sensational feathered teal sandals, front row. Did she know Proenza Schouler's color palette was going to boom midnight, navy, and robin's egg? My point is: shades of blue (one of my favorite colors) have never looked cooler. Street-rubber-printed denim skinnies — from their exclusive denim collaboration with J Brand — paired with white poplin shirts were fresh; cropped wool jackets teamed with tight pleated skirts were schoolgirl cool; cropped turtlenecks and itty bitty vests layered over double-faced wool skirts and trippy prints were modern. Leather elbow patches and pockets, sheer thigh highs, dip-dyed fur, and sheer cutaways were immensely edgy. And to push our naughty girls past curfew, printed coupe faille dresses brought the mix all together — sweet, but far from behaved.
P.S. If you have $1,850 to spare, buy one of the Fall PS11 bags hot off the runway.
