Irina was the first to don her black Roberto Cavalli cutout dress at the All Is Lost premiere at the Cannes Film Festival back in May. Then, last night, Beyoncé chose the same plunging gown in white for the 10th anniversary party of husband, Jay Z's 40/40 club in NYC. Irina's gown was definitely on the more revealing side, while Beyoncé's look blended sexy with ethereal. Both ladies clearly let their gown do all the talking — and really, that's all they needed. There are few things the fashion industry likes to do more than support a worthy cause, and on Friday Roberto Cavalli, along with a bevy of supermodels and bold-faced names, did just that at the annual Life Ball in Vienna, Austria.

The glittering event took over Vienna's City Hall Square with an enormous runway and a stage made to look like an Indian Palace — fitting, considering this year's theme was the ancient anthology One Thousand and One Nights.

Cavalli added even more glamour by dressing models Karolina Kurkova, Nieves Alvarez, and Eva Riccobono, among others, for a retrospective show of his work. Adam Lambert, Azealia Banks, and Fergie gave performances at the event, which included speeches from former President Bill Clinton and Sir Elton John.

Roberto Cavalli conjures up a tougher kind of cool girl for Fall 2013. Instead of overt sexiness, this is a more androgynous brand of glamour, with monochromatic print on print and gowns that trade curvaceous overtures for subtle revelations of skin with sheer paneling and form-grazing — rather than form-flaunting — cuts. There's something boyish in the suiting and more modest cuts, but none of it is any less striking, any less luxe, or any less glam. Thanks to multicolored furry toppers, studs, and brocades, Cavalli's girl is just as much the rock-and-roll goddess she's always been.

Call it wanderlust on fire. Roberto Cavalli's Fall 2013 show for Just Cavalli took its audience on a walk to exotic locales across Asia. But the journey was briefly interrupted when an antifur protestor stormed the catwalk — a long, raised black stage with digital flames licking the sides — holding a sign with the slogan "Your Fashion, Their Death."

After security removed her from the runway, the show progressed with wild pattern combinations: one cream sweater had sleeves cut from a quilted pagoda print and was paired with tiger-print trousers. Some looks were accented with colorful tassels worn as necklaces. A few pieces in a blue peony print looked sweet, but the red dress depicting a gold dragon swimming through orange flames had a decidedly tougher aura.

As for the fur pieces that were being protested, there was no shortage of those. A blue-and-cream colorblocked fur coat came down the runway, and red strands of fur trimmed a parka in a red and black brocade.
