Salvatore Ferragamo and Brad Pitt to Host Inaugural Arts Center Gala

To celebrate the long-awaited opening of the Wallis Annenberg Center for the Performing Arts in Beverly Hills, fashion house Salvatore Ferragamo will sponsor a black-tie inaugural gala alongside cochairs Brad Pitt, Robert Redford, Jamie Tisch, and Wallis Annenberg.

The evening will not only play host to a star-studded crowd, it will also shine light on a series of events including a performance on the Goldsmith Theater stage and an exclusive showing of Ferragamo's Spring 2014 collection.

The new cultural hub transformed an entire Beverly Hills city block, with the historic 1934 Beverly Hills Post Office and new Goldsmith Theater integral parts of the transformation. And with Ferragamo's deep-rooted ties to Los Angeles — the iconic shoe designer opened his first shop in Hollywood almost 100 years ago — and a worldwide commitment to the arts, it made perfect sense to sponsor the inaugural gala.

The gala is scheduled for mid-October, but the festivities have already started. A look at Ferragamo's cocktail preparty plus a sneak peek at the center here.

Jennifer Aniston made a red-hot statement on the Oscars red carpet wearing a red strapless Valentino Haute Couture gown with a matching red lizard minaudière by Salvatore Ferragamo. Considering Jennifer's affinity for neutral hues, this certainly registers as a much bolder choice. The actress added a touch of glitz courtesy of sparkly drop earrings and diamond bracelets from Fred Leighton. Thoughts on Jennifer's look?

Yet Giornetti wasn't necessarily making a statement about stark minimalism.

Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2013 Runway

The Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2013 collection struck a mod-meets-minimalist chord, pairing shiny patent double-breasted peacoats with turtleneck dresses, and cropped jackets with A-line skirts.
Salvatore Ferragamo Runway | Fashion Week Fall 2013 Photos

The Salvatore Ferragamo Fall 2013 collection struck a mod-meets-minimalist chord, pairing shiny patent double-breasted peacoats with turtleneck dresses, and cropped jackets with A-line skirts. Consider it a turn to retro styling juxtaposed against pared-down silhouettes. To fully harness this vibe, Creative Director Massimiliano Giornetti sent out sleek pieces — mostly in navy blues, blacks, and slate grays — only letting the crispest shade of white punctuate the dark lineup. While there were quite a few "deconstructed" minidresses to (once again) redefine the standard LBD, it was the expertly tailored (and very luxurious) outerwear that held our attention. As for the label's iconic leather goods? There were plenty: all of them, cooler than the one before. Between the croc-printed bags and the knee-high cutout pointy-toe boots — which, from the back, provided all the lace-up sex appeal in one parting glance — Ferragamo Fall '13 proved jam-packed with accessories and clothing worth coveting. See it all here.

Jennifer Garner and Anne Hathaway Work Sleeveless Looks at the DGAs

Last night's Directors Guild Awards played host to yet another round of slick red-carpet cocktail attire.

Last night's Directors Guild Awards played host to yet another round of slick red-carpet cocktail attire. While not quite the stuff of black-tie affairs, our two favorite looks certainly held enough intrigue to supply ample (sleeveless) styling inspiration. Jennifer Garner opted for an Antonio Berardi LWD that, once again, proved her ability to find the balance in sexy cuts and glamorous finishes. And for us, the combination of a body-conscious silhouette, embellished top, and a crisp Winter white hue made this the kind of monochromatic outfit that never veers toward boring. To counter the sleeveless shift, she accessorized with muted metallic pieces, namely a Salvatore Ferragamo box clutch and matching satin peep-toe pumps, then added just a hint of sparkle via Cartier jewels. Jennifer's look is the perfect solution to your "how to wear white at night" question. But if you're not a fan of the peep-toe look in Winter, try a pointy-toe pump in the same neutral tone instead.

This award season's wild-card styler, Anne Hathaway, went for a punchier print look, donning a sleeveless pink-and-blue beaded Valentino Couture dress with navy blue Casadei vegan heels. Because the dress offered up a serious textual statement, the Les Misérables actress didn't do much else in the way of add-ons. Her diamond studs, tennis bracelet, and wedding ring served as the outfit's only accents, and in this case, it totally worked. Anne's playful choice is the kind of dress you should wear on the next night out with the girls — it's fun, festive, but doesn't feel overdone in the least. Which look would you wear? Tell us in the comments.

Are You on Board With Designers' Spring Leather Obsession?

Leather and Spring aren't the most obvious pairing, but leave it to this crew of designers — who featured copious amounts of leather on their Spring runways — to make it the new It couple.

Leather and Spring aren't the most obvious pairing, but leave it to this crew of designers — who featured copious amounts of leather on their Spring runways — to make it the new It couple. From Marni's colorful structured tops and skirts to Fendi's sleek colorblocked pants, we can't help but be intrigued. While a part of us can't seem to fathom the thought of sweating it out for the sake of fashion (65-degree weather plus a leather dress does not sound appealing), there's another side of us is falling hard for all the pretty purple, green, and taupe-hued offerings. Now, we want to hear from you. Are you willing to sacrifice a little function for fashion's sake, or is this Spring leather trend just plain ridiculous?
