Carrie's Sex and the City Apartment Hits the Market

Remember the romantic brownstone where Carrie Bradshaw lived on in her Sex and the City single-gal days?

Remember the romantic brownstone where Carrie Bradshaw lived on in her Sex and the City single-gal days? While it was supposedly a small rent-controlled Greenwich Village apartment, the brownstone facade used for filming actually contained a much grander apartment — which has now hit the market for a whopping $9.65 million. I'm quite sure Carrie's journalist dollars wouldn't have been able to purchase this pretty five-bedroom, three-bath, 4,000+-square-foot home.

According to the Sotheby's listing:

Steeped in history and romance, 64 Perry Street is located on one of the most coveted tree-lined blocks in the heart of the West Village landmark district. This spectacular 20'x48'+/- light-filled house, on a deep lot with a large south-facing garden, is ideally surrounded by other historic townhome gardens & mature trees. Rich in original details, such as herringbone wood floors with exquisite inlaid borders, 6 fireplaces with carved marble mantels, & beautifully proportioned rooms with ornate crown & ceiling moldings, the home is waiting to be restored to its original grandeur. Inhabited by only two families since construction in 1866, it was designed by architect Robert Mook, who also completed most of the other Italianate style townhouses on the block. A grand entry hall greets visitors on the parlor level with a sweeping staircase and a wide arched doorway leading to double parlors at the front and rear of the house, with 12'+/- ceilings. First showings Tuesday, March 6th.

Life Lessons From Sex and the City

Recently, I started to reminisce about the girls way back when — before the motion pictures. Sure, the show is touted for its relationship expertise, and obviously its amazing fashion, but while re-watching the girls in action, I realized each of these bright women has a lot to share in the way of career and life experiences. Sure they've made mistakes, but there's a lesson to be learned from the successes — and dilemmas — we've seen played out by our favorite foursome.

4 Reasons the Sex and the City Prequel Will Work Better as a TV Series

Rumors of a Sex and the City prequel film have been flying for a while now, but now comes news that it may be a TV series instead.

Rumors of a Sex and the City prequel film have been flying for a while now, but now comes news that it may be a TV series instead. The CW is interested in adapting Candace Bushnell's book The Carrie Diaries for the small screen, which will follow Carrie's high school years. It's an interesting idea to serialize Carrie Bradshaw's teen days rather than making it into a movie, and I actually think that the project would work better on the small screen. Here are a few reasons why.

1. The movies have been disappointing. The Sex and the City films have been mildly entertaining in their own right, but they've never captured the essence of the TV show. Perhaps it's because they went overboard trying to bring the show to the movies, so this should be a valuable lesson to the minds behind the project — the prequel, like the original series, could start small and focus on developing the characters.

2. Gossip Girl is on its way out. The CW's current series isn't as snappy as it once was, and its stars are making their way into movies and away from the show. We've already seen those Upper East Siders grow up, so now it's time for them to move on. The clothes- and love-obsessed Carrie would be a perfect replacement.

Sex and the City ruled our lives, and inspired endless fashion inspiration, from '98 to '04 so naturally, we jumped when we heard rumors that the show is set to return to television, with Sarah Jessica Parker as the producer. However, the thought of tuning in to a weekly dose of Carrie, Samantha, Charlotte, and Miranda's entertaining lives — and equally amazing shoes and clothes to go with it — sounds a little too good to be true. We're still curious, are you excited about the possibility of Sex and the City back on TV?

Would You Like to See Blake, Elizabeth, Selena, and Emma in a SATC Prequel?

A prequel movie for Sex and the City has long been rumored, and today there is a story that the leading ladies are in the process of being cast.

A prequel movie for Sex and the City has long been rumored, and today there is a story that the leading ladies are in the process of being cast. With Elizabeth Olsen as Carrie Bradshaw, Emma Roberts would play Miranda Hobbes, leaving Blake Lively as Samantha Jones and Selena Gomez as Charlotte York. The franchise's creator, Candace Bushnell, has already written two books about Carrie's life before the HBO series that starred Sarah Jessica Parker. There are clearly stories to tell, but we're wondering what you make of these four actress tackling the iconic characters. So, tell us — would you like to see Blake, Selena, Emma, and Elizabeth in SATC?

Kim Cattrall Intimidates Men With Her Sex Smarts

While her Sex and the City alter ego, Samantha Jones, has no issues in the dating department (or rather, jump-in-the-sack department), Kim Cattrall shares that her real-world dating life isn't so glamorous on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today.

While her Sex and the City alter ego, Samantha Jones, has no issues in the dating department (or rather, jump-in-the-sack department), Kim Cattrall shares that her real-world dating life isn't so glamorous on The Ellen DeGeneres Show today. But it isn't her sexually adventurous roles that intimidate men, it's actually her knowledge on female sexuality. I agree with Ellen on this one; shouldn't her know-how be a turn-on, not a turnoff?

Sex and the City Charged With Ruining Sex For the World

Sex used to be mysterious; sex also used to be taboo.

Sex used to be mysterious; sex also used to be taboo. But now sex writer Karen Krizanovich says it's not even sexy anymore. Overexposure in pop culture has made the formerly forbidden act at best pleasant, on average banal, and at worst political.

While sex's overexposure can be traced back much farther than Sex and the City, Krizanovich says the show was the tipping point. They didn't just have sex, they also talked about it from every angle imaginable. To prove her point, she cites an unembarrassed Samantha lecturing onlookers at a Middle Eastern market about sexual liberation after condoms spill out of her purse, but I feel pretty secure saying nobody in real life would ever do that.

Maybe sex has lost some of its seduction — a byproduct of the sexual revolution, but that's also just a natural evolution. Just like we can't blame pop culture for single acts of violence, we can't hold it responsible for bad sex lives.
