My wife is 51, still wears string bikini's, mini skirts, and cut off jean shorts. She has had 3 kids, no plastic surgery and still turns heads where ever she goes. It's amazing what diet, exercise and confidence can do.

Age has nothing to do with fashion. It all depends on how you look and how you feel.

I think it depends on your shape, not your age. I'm only 22, but I have never in my life felt entitled to wear one. lol

not necessarily when you're 40 or anything, but maybe around 60? i think it would look a bit foolish at that point. sorry if this sounds sexist or judgmental. oh and if you;re tina turner its ok of course!

Yeah, just because you can doesn't mean you should. Some articles of clothing do bring age.

I have very muscular, strong legs and I don't like the way they look in mini skirts so I don't wear them. But just think about Tina Turner. I saw her in a super short cocktail dress singing on TV and she looked AMAZING!! She's in her 60's and I'd kill to have those legs. If you got it and it makes you feel good FLAUNT IT! I wouldn't dream of telling Tina, "Honey you're too old for that dress." Would you?

Only if you are a supermodel. I doubt anyone on here would look that good after a certain age, in a mini skirt. No matter how much they brag about how "hot" they are.

THAT'S why I think you must stop wearing mini-skirts at a certain age.

I guess I'm alone in thinking that this look is just too young for Elle. Yes, she has the body for it, but just because you CAN wear something doesn't mean you should.

Sales, I feel the same way! I'd be like..um..mom..please don't wear that LOL, she's over 60 by the way, and yeah, her legs look GREAT. In fact, she is probably the only female in our family who has slender, long legs, but no I don't want to see my 60-something mom to be wearing super mini skirt. I'm 31 and I'm already avoiding wearing short skirt, the shortest I'd go probably just an inch above my knees other than that, I feel like I'm competing with younger, sexier gals by trying to look young when I'm so not looking young anymore :p That's just a personal preference though.

I am a little split on this one. While I do believe that everyone should be able to express themselves in however way through their clothes, I would absolutely die to see my mother in mini skirts at her age. I guess the answer would be, as long as it is with discretion and kicking bod, whenever!

No, if the mini-skirt is still flattering on someone, she should still wear it (if she wants to). It's not about age, as much as it's about what looks flattering, and what the woman likes to wear. With that said, I still wear mini-skirts (when the weather is really hot). I have a fit and shapely figure, and I think I look better in a mini-skirt than a lot teenagers, especially the overweight ones. Sometimes I think the mini-skirt was made for women like me. ;) :)

If one has the body, short skirts can easily be worn in the summer. Most women ( not supermodels) will choose to pair the skirt with shorter heels. Nevertheless for Fall/Winter 2009 it is acceptable to wear a short dress, pullover, sweater wiih leggings and high heels at any age! Go up a notch and pair the outfit with over the knee boots to really WOW the crowd!
