The Fall 2007 ready-to-wear shows are still a couple of weeks away, but the creme-de-la-creme of fashion, the couture shows, are underway in Paris right now.

With the Oscars right around the corner, Karl Lagerfeld rarely disappoints. Starting off the collection with a modern sixties series of super short coat-dresses and cropped jackets, most of these were cinched at the waist with a thick, black belt. His sporty, yet classic tweeds all stemmed from shiny black tights.

For evening, the silhouette dropped & the styles grew up, with pristine military mess jackets over long, sheer-net skirts and silvery sequined streaks of vertical ribbon. Lagerfeld's couture creations were adorned with budding feathers or fragile tulle bows as well as intense beading; and they were accompanied by fingerless gloves and bows cinched as necklaces.
