Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week: Catherine Malandrino
2011 Spring New York Fashion Week: Catherine Malandrino
Set at the Grand Promenade at Lincoln Center, Catherine Malandrino's presentation was a fresh breath of Vallauris air. We're off to the South of France, ladies! The models stood atop platforms lined on either side of the reflection pool in a gorgeous assortment of crochet knits, silk macramé, chiffon and jersey prints, and woven leather. It was a perfect mélange of essential European vacation pieces and the signature edgy Malandrino French girl.

Black wide-leg trousers were paired with a black leather cropped and distressed jacket, embellished with dual zippers. To be fair to color enthusiasts, the palette wasn't all noir — two of the most memorable outfits were a raspberry, floral floor-length gown with a Grecian goddess neckline and a soft cream, viscose wrap dress. Go light for day and dark for night. Of course, no South of France getaway is complete without a straw hat, macramé tunic to layer over a bikini, and a jaw-dropping talisman pendant! C'est chic — bon voyage!
