2011 Spring New York Fashion Week: DKNY
You can always expect a Donna Karan production to be lively and exciting. The energy in the room was buzzing like a busy New York City avenue. The surrounding LCD screens flashed pop art quotes like "Man-hat-tan" and "I'm working and walking here" as celebrities like Jade Jagger, Estelle, and Leigh Lezark took their seats. So, what's the word on the street? The DKNY girl has grown into a refined young Parisian lady — and the result is absolutely lovely. She loves to flutter around in floral, tiered skirts and dresses, in multiple shades of ocean and turquoise blue.
But for a more sophisticated spin, she belts the look with a trench coat. She wears tailored blazers in pops of crisp red, navy, white, and camel tones with straight-leg trousers. The focus has shifted to the neck — scarves, ruffles, and chokers — and it never seems overdone or silly. Consider Spring 2011 a time to make heads turn with these bright and colorful statement pieces.
