Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week: Rag & Bone
Spring 2011 New York Fashion Week: Rag & Bone
I had a serious '90s flashback at Rag & Bone. Between the Thom Yorke-curated soundtrack and homage to rave culture, I couldn't shake the feeling that David Neville and Marcus Wainwright were taking us on a futuristic Space Age adventure. And trust me, it was a ride to remember. BFFs Gossip Girl Jessica Szohr and model Jessica Stam were joined at the hip, while Anna Wintour and Grace Coddington sat together quietly waiting for the show to start. As each model walked out, I kept hearing the words "space," "tribal," "bondage," and "Helmut Lang" to describe the collection, and I'd say that's a spot-on recap. To all you longtime Rag & Bone fans, not to fear! Spring's forecast is full of playful sheers, wearable lightweight neutral knits, and sexy rubber-soled heels.

It's a four-way tie for favorite style takeaways: vibrant bursts of color (deep reds, silver lamé, bright greens and blues), harness bras worn over the clothing, thick nude-colored crochet tops to layer with, and graphic prints on long chiffon skirts. It was definitely an unexpected showing from Rag & Bone, but change can be a good thing. In this case, it's a fabulous thing.
