Fab Flash: Steve & Barry's Will Survive

Fret not Steve & Barry's shoppers, the store will live on. The company, who recently filed for bankruptcy, has been purchased by investment firm Bay Harbour Management for $168 million. We're not the only ones excited about the news. "I'm very pleased that Steve & Barry's will be able to continue to deliver on their mission and look forward to continuing our strong partnership," said Sarah Jessica Parker.

The majority of the 276 Steve & Barry's stores, which houses celebrity collections from the likes of Sarah Jessica Parker, Venus Williams, and Amanda Bynes, will remain open. Whew, that was a close one!

I have the black sheath dress with the ribbon at the empire waist. It makes me look AMAZING. I love it love it love it. I just went and bought the yellow flowery version. I got so many compliments on that little black dress and I looked so sexy and skinny and just felt fabulous. For $8.98. Some stuff in the entire store is sketchy, some stuff rocks. But I like to shop for bargains so I'm used to going to Filene's TJ Maxx etc. so I know how to look through for what I really can wear. She had some jeans that were amazing fit, but one size to large I'm still hunting those down. The wash was a gorgeous dark denim. Their jeans do last though. Again not bad for $8.98.

i checked my local grand opened store, i stayed there maybe 3 minutes. i was amazed how there's nothing to buy there!

I wasn't too impressed by the clothes in Steve & Barry's. And the closest one is 2 hours away. They set up in some pretty random towns.

for all the cute stylish things on the sjpbitten website, NONE of it can be found in the stores. i've bought some trendy jeans from there that will last me for however long a high waisted skinny jean will last. for that, i bless her.

I have a few things from SJP's line, but the closest one to me is 2 hours away- not convenient.

I'm happy about this. I havea pair of SJP jeans that I'm living in right now. They are super dark, high waised and fit perfectly. not bad for $8.98. :)

I agree on the lack of quality and style - except for jeans...I was able to snag a pair of "trendier jeans" that I had no intention in serving as an investment piece courtesy of SJP for $8.98. She also caters to us petite girls!

I've never bought anything from Steve and Barry's either. I checked out her clothing line, and everything reminded me of something you could get at Old Navy, which is better quality than SJP's. Sorry girl!

Maybe now that they have been bailed out, they'll amp up their clothing lines! I am all for value clothing and I love the concept but you cannot sacrifice both fabric and construction completely so that you can turn an 80% profit on a $15 pair of trousers AND expect the company to make a ton of sales.
