Or consider buying handmade gaunlets and fingerless gloves on etsy. There you can find amazing styles, colors etc. I bought a great pair from http://www.etsy.com/shop/dreadsandcurls. But you can just search fingerless gloves or gauntlets.

i think this person knitted up leg warmers and adapted the pattern with a hole on the side for a thumb. i like more structured fingerless gloves. The ones with the flap so you can make them into mittens when its bitter cold.
